Information on the 2022 Derby Auction
The time has come again! Equine Marketing is pleased to once again offer you the perfect setting for the sale of your yearling in 2022. The 32nd edition of the Derby Auction for yearlings is coming up and, as always, offers breeders and/or vendors a first-class and exclusive opportunity to present their yearlings!
Facts about the Derby Auction 2022
1. Date of the Derby Auction on 20 August 2022
In 2021 we had good experiences with the auction on the first Derby weekend. In particular, the equalised operation on the second weekend due to the rescheduling had a positive effect. In 2022 we again have a special situation: the Saturday on the second weekend will become a PMU race day. Since the race day has to start in the morning due to the French regulations, we have a predestined time slot for the auction on this day in the evening. We have therefore decided to hold the auction on the second weekend this year.
2. Further procedure, registration & deadlines
To register your yearling (born 2021) for this year’s Derby Auction, please send us all necessary information by 15.04.2022 at the latest to:
auktion@equine-marketing.de
Alternatively, we offer you the possibility to name your yearling for the Derby Auction 2022 via our homepage www.equine-marketing.de under the menu item “Sell”.
3. Medical examination & vaccination
We have noticed in the past two years that the subject of “medical examinations” is always a topic of conversation. Be it during the registration process, on auction day before the auction but also afterwards. In the following we would like to recommend a guideline of all relevant examinations of your youngster:
- General examination including heart and eye examination
- Inspection of the locomotor system
- For stallions: exclusion of cryptorchidism.
- Recommendation of X ray examination:
- Front: toe lateral 90 degrees (bilateral).
- Carpus: 0 degrees and 90 degrees (bilateral)
- Rear: Toe 90 degrees (bilateral)
- Tarsus: 70 degrees and 110 degrees (bilateral)
- Knee: approx. 100deg and 180deg (bilateral).
IMPORTANT: Please also make sure that your yearlings have the necessary vaccinations.
